Ahh- home at last!

So I'm safe back at home now. Back to my local R&B gigs and sleeping in my own bed. Argentina and Chile were beautiful to visit and play in. Didn't get to go to Antarctica though- maybe next time!
Here's a few tidbits of news...

Flamenco
& Metal:

In addition to our 2nd annual Halloween performance, my band FLAMETAL is in the process of a Japanese release! My goal is to get a budget to eventually re-record our CD and get it out here in the US on Steve Vai's label Favored Nations. I also believe that a small tour in Brazil and other South American cities would go over quite well. The current CD is available at CDBaby.com. The performance will be in Berkeley, CA on Oct. 29th. Doom Patrol: Rock, Metal, Soul, Pop.

My other band, The Doom Patrol is now mastering their CD, Hypnatic. This is the second release of this CD, with many of the parts retracked with the current live band. Look for it out soon, most likely on CDBaby.com.

As always, I've got other irons in the fire too. Exicting stuff. Fun stuff. More later!

Sau Paulo Rocks!

Sau Paulo rocks! The city is huge. Finally after an early morning of travelling/flying/bussing/hoteling and waiting, we went to the venue. Stepping out on stage before 30,000 screaming fans was amazing. No soundcheck, yet we had the perfect mix onstage. I sang and played the best I have on this tour, and man it feels good. Pics coming (thanks to a fan).

PS. If anyone has pics or bootlegs from any of these shows, PLEASE send some to me! I'm lost without my camera!

30,000 fans.

Whitesnake after the show, with our beautiful and wonderful guides Miriam and Monica. Thanks again to them!

Ahh.. Rainy RIO

Rio was covered in clouds from the moment we got there. It stayed that way until the moment we departed for the airport. Oh well. Timothy, Christie and I went to the Jesus statue. He was shrouded in fog, mist and clouds so all we could see were his feet. I can at least say I went there. The beachside hotel (one of 2 in town) had a great view of the beach below, but with no one on it- it was private and locked. he internet connection was unusable and they charged $20 UNTIL THEY CUT IT OF AT 11PM. And pictures? All gone. My camera was stolen off the stage at the gig!!! Can you f*'n believe that? I always leave it on the drum riser in front of my amps. We head off stage Left and I always circle back behind the drums to get my camera/sunglasses/drink/whatever may still be on the riser. Well in that 10 seconds or so time there were local stagehands everywhere around the riser but no camera. They looked blankly at me, than probably laughed as I walked away. Bummer. It's not so much the camera as it is the pics... Going out to Brazilian bbq with Judas Priest. Hangin with KK Downing and Doug for local beers and music. Pics of my unaccessable beach and christs foggy feet. Oh well. And the gig was in the basement of a mall. Awesome trip to RIO.

Traveling by plane/van/etc., we trade 23 boring/exhausting hours of questionable food for ONE hour of playing music. And we don't play everyday.

Sounds like I'm complaning when in fact, I'm highly thankful to be here doing what I love. It's just the unexpected specifics that have surprised me. I don't feel like a rock star today. Off to the next gig... (I'm writing from Sao Paulo)
This one will rock! Outdoor festival. 25,000 people. In the end, I love my job :-)

Happy Edit: We did however, have a wonderful evening with our guides, who brought us (some WS, some Judas) to the BEST SEAFOOD BUFFET I'D EVER HAD! Right near Copacabana accross from the beach. I think I ate 3 kinds of lobster! Later it was quite amusing to go to a traditional brazilian club, and see how out of place us 'rockers' were. The locals were dancing so beautifully while KK Downing and I watched in awe and drank beer.

My first Blog! Greetings from Mexico City!

Hello all. For those of you interested in my whereabouts and happenings on the road, look no furthur. This place will be my lil online journal for all to gaze upon and perhaps even laugh at!

So here I am in Mexico City. We (Whitesnake) just played our first show with Judas Priest in Monterrey Mexico, to a modest crowd of 8,000 or so. Tonight in Mexico City will dwarf that! I can't wait.

Later that day...
Judas was awesome. Doug and I watched most of the show from the soundboard. It was our first time seeing JP, and what a powerful show they put on! To think that they almost single-handedly shaped the 'leather and studs' look to rockers, punks, gays, etc... There was no shortage of leather and studs on this show either. Custom elvator platforms; stunning visuals and even a Harley were all in the show. And Rob Halford sang wonderfully, effortlessly hitting his trademark falsetto/vibratto notes. -Uriah
