Too $hort * Vigilance * Flametal this week!

The Dirtyest of the Dirty.

Wow...
What can I say? Last night's (Sat. Feb. 25th, 2006) show with Rap Legend Too $hort was great! Plagued by sound problems and drunk women, $hort was able to MC the frenzied Oakland crowd with a mic alone. Once we worked out the sound issues, the band slammed on some of his greatest hits, including "Life Is", "Freaky Tales", "Shake Dat Monkey" and more. I even played Key-bass. The crowd was wild since this is his home town- Oakland Bay Area. There was a film crew there for rehearsal, soundcheck and the show. I don't even know how many girls were on stage with us, but that shit was Hyfie! I can't wait to do it again, as it was one of the craziest and memorable gigs in a while! Shake Dat Monkey!

Here's a lil video
from the stage. Sorry the file size is so big- I couldn't compress it.

And oh yeah- Don't click on it if you don't like dirty Rap.

February Update!

1. Sly and the Family Stone reunion?
2. Where I've been/What I'm doing
3. Upcoming Tours/Whitesnake

••• Sly and the Family Stone reunion? •••
First off, I gotta say that I talked to my friend Greg Errico a couple of times this week. Greg is the drummer for the original Sly and the Family Stone. It looks like he's really working hard with Sly for the first time in years to make this Surprise Reunion happen on the Grammy's (this Wednesday Feb 8th). I've been with Greg, Jerry and Cynthia the past few years to see first-hand what's become of this band, and I'd love nothing more than to see these folks get it together and do the music we all love. Unfortunatly the relationships have never fully healed and the situation is volatile at times. It may even be too late, but they gotta try. Rehearsals in LA start today. At the very least they should be in attendance to receive the special tribute that is being played to them that night.

After Greg and (bassist) Larry Graham's departure from the band in '72, they had Rusty Allen on Bass. In the most recent reunion versions of the band (with some of the members of the band), I was on bass. What if Larry doesn't return? Maybe Rusty or even myself will play on the Grammy show. Larry has been taken to NY for Saturday Night Live this weekend with Prince. Well see.

••• Where I've been/What I'm doing •••
Not alot of gigging so far this year. I had a mellow holiday season where I cooked the whole deal on Christmas. I'm also currently working on material for my solo album. I'm looking for co-producers on this project- folks who know the music I'm trying to do.

The NAMM show was great this year. Head on over to http://www.eden-electronics.com to see the pics of my solo bass performance at the booth. Eden has been a blast to work with. You may possibly see me endorsing EBS bass pedals shortly as well. Keep yer fingers crossed!

I'll be spending as much time as I can with my son Shilo in February before he goes back to school (in Denmark!)

••• Upcoming Tours •••
Lyrics Born midwest dates in the 2nd half of March.
Whitesnake dates in Japan in May, and Europe in June.
As always, I'll have the dates and details posted on my website as soon as I get 'em

That's all for now! Cheers!
